3 Uncommon Ways to Protect Your Mental Health as an Entrepreneur

Is your business on the verge of driving you crazy? I have been exactly where you are; I was ready to burn my business to the ground.

Protect Your Mental Health: Values

The reason why I had become so overwhelmed and burned out in my business was because I abandoned my values. I’d allowed other voices to tell me what my business needed. If you’re feeling burned out in business right now (or on the verge) I would bet that you have lost sight of your values. When you step outside of what’s truly important to you, it will always land you in overwhelm.

Get reacquainted with your values today, even if things are going great. My favorite tool to realign my life is the book The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte. It’s a quick read that helps you to realign and get back on track.

Protect Your Mental Health: Boundaries

The second part of the burnout triad is boundaries. One of the first things I learned in this entrepreneur journey was to be “friendly, not familiar.” This means that I could love my clients, however I was not to be available to them at all times.

Do you have boundaries around when and how clients can reach out to you? What is your boundary around issues you handle? Be clear about how you will interact with your clients and how they can expect you to show up.

Protect Your Mental Health: Structure

I’m an entrepreneur with ADHD, so I need ALL the structure. Structure in business is needed to create flow; without having systems and processes to operate your business you’ll feel all over the place, all the time.

If you need support in creating structure in your business, get clear about your challenges, and outsource what you can. If you’re not in a space to outsource just yet, reduce your load and do only what is necessary.

Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late

Even if you’re not overwhelmed in your business now, don’t put off setting yourself up for freedom.
