My name is Kaazmi Mansour. I have a love for exercising, and in particular jogging. This goes hand in hand with my interest and love for cooking, especially healthy meals! This may seem so simple, but these are some of the things that make me feel great: a healthy lifestyle. In the last few years I have not been able to endure my love for working out due to lifestyle, i.e. fertility treatments, etc., but it is something that I cannot wait to get back into when the time is right.
I have a passion for helping others. For me, this is a huge motivating factor to always do better in the work that I do. I am a full-time social worker; in particular, I am a therapist. I currently work in Canada at the Sexual Assault Crisis Center and at a private practice as an independent contractor. I also teach part time at a college in Canada in the social work program. I am passionate about helping people learn, realize, and utilize opportunities to help them succeed in their life.
Putting Myself First
In terms of putting myself first, I’d like to say I do this enough, but I don’t think I do. I have this overwhelming guilt when I do things for myself first before my family. Although I have to say, it doesn’t bother me, as I would literally do everything and anything for my family.
With that being said, in my practice working with clients, one of the things I always tell my clients that struggle with self-care is to engage in the little things that are meaningful and purposeful in their life. Recently, I have started to practice what I preach–a little goes a long way!
I am married to my amazing husband with whom I have been with for 16 years–married for eight of those years. I have a beautiful 16-month-old daughter named Maria, who made my dreams of becoming a mom true. I am also grateful to share that I have another baby on the way, due in August!
I am Canadian born; I was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and lived there for most of my life until 2015, until I got married to my husband who moved to Michigan for work. We currently live in Troy, and absolutely love our neighborhood. We love the family-oriented neighborhood and the fact that there is a ton of space to walk our dog. We also love our area, as we are near all the great restaurants!
As I mentioned, I am from Toronto, a diverse city with so much to learn. One of the things that I love about the metro Detroit area is that even on a smaller scale, there is so much culture and diversity. I love all the different and unique restaurants that metro Detroit has to offer. I can’t say I have a favorite, because they are too good in their own way!
The content that I am most excited to bring to Detroit Mom is content regarding fertility treatments (through my lens and my experience), and hopefully relating to other moms and families out there. I am also excited to share content with recipes, as this is something I find can be overwhelming when you have children and are working full time. Lastly, as I mentioned, I am a therapist, so any content related to mental health, coping, etc., is something that I would like to share.
