DIY Bomb Pops with Hudsonville Ice Cream

When it comes to holidays, the 4th of July has always been a family favorite. It’s the time of year when we all come together as a family to celebrate and spend time together enjoying the summer. In fact, whenever I think of summer, I think of the 4th of July. Kids in the pool, food on the grill, fireworks in the backyard, and a constant flow of ice cream. It’s the epitome of summer filled with the sweetest moments.

Even though this year’s celebrations might look a little different, the feeling is the same. Our family is still planning to do all the same fun things, just on a smaller scale. We decided to throw in our favorite ice cream and make some homemade Bomb Pops! Because, if the 4th of July is the epitome of summer, Bomb Pops are the epitome of nostalgia and my childhood. If you were lucky enough to have an ice cream truck frequent your neighborhood, no stop was complete without the infamous red, white, and blue Bomb Pops. So, this year we switched it up a bit and used our favorite ice cream from Hudsonville Ice Cream to recreate the iconic sweet summer treat! Say hello to Hudsonville’s special edition flavors, American Fireworks and Blueberry Cobbler.

Making the Bomb Pops was so fun and easy, and the kids loved picking out their favorite flavors. Our family is making the most out of our current situation and finding new ways and traditions to bring into our lives. With so many uncertainties, we made a conscious choice to try and create as many sweet moments this summer as we can. Kids often remember how they feel about situations more than all the details. Think about the summers of your childhood. What stands out the most? For me, it’s swimming and ice cream truck stops– not the historical events that took place. I just remember having fun, being free, and feeling safe. That’s exactly what we wanted for our girls this summer.

Hopefully when my girls look back on the summer of 2020, they’ll remember all the new traditions we started, fun times we had, and especially the Bomb Pops we made. Our plan is to fill this year’s 4th of July FULL of the sweetest moments and tasty homemade Hudsonville Bomb Pops.
