Hanna and Ayah are two sister-in-laws taking on the soft play industry! Their babies are only five months apart. And, they come from immigrant families.
We asked Hanna and Ayah to share a little bit more about their business with us. Get to know them and their business, Aesthetic Play, below!
How did you come up with the idea of your business, and how did you start?
“The idea of our soft play business came from our babies! We wanted something that would be fun and entertaining for our children, while fitting [our] aesthetic as moms! We collaborated with our husbands to come up with a business plan. This turned into a great family project. Once we figured out the steps we needed to take, we launched our business just four months after!”
Knowing what you know now, is there anything you would have done differently when you were first starting out?
“We don’t feel there’s anything we should have done differently! Simply because it would change where we have reached now. Watching all your plans that started on a paper become reality is an amazing thing. We have received so much support and love from our community and we are so grateful for that! Owning a business is a journey and we are ready to take it!”
What is the best business advice you’ve ever been given?
“Know your worth.”
Have you faced adversity in business due to being a woman? How did you navigate that?
“We don’t feel we have faced this at all. We stand tall and proud to be women business owners! We’ve also received so much support from other women, as well as surrounded ourselves [with] others who lift women up!”
How do you persevere in challenging times?
“Staying organized!!!”
What impact do you want your business to have?
“We want our business to make others feel like there’s something on the market for their babies to enjoy and have safe fun, and of course, all while being in style! We love to help create those visions that every mom has but isn’t sure where to start!”
What are the pros and cons of being a woman business owner in 2023?
“We would say that a pro is we continue to show other women that we are capable of being independent and going after your own dreams. A con would be as a mother sometimes it can be difficult to juggle everything, but it can be done!”
What knowledge would you share with someone who wants to become an entrepreneur?
“During the difficult times is when you should push yourself the most. Once you overcome those difficulties, that’s when you reach everything you’ve been waiting for.”
What do you do for personal and professional development?
“Learn from other women business owners. We network with others to see different outlooks and take advice from those who have been on their journey before us!”
What mantra or quote do you live by?
“Never give up!”
