Frugal Friday :: My Four Favorite Money-Saving Apps

It’s no secret that moms love to save money.  There are so many books, blogs, and even TV shows dedicated to money-saving tips.  It’s easy to get excited and inspired by all of the frugal ideas these resources have to offer, but the truth is: saving money takes a lot of time, research, and dedication!  That’s why, as a BUSY mother of two, I love my smartphone.  It’s the only thing I need to save money on just about everything I need.

Here are my four favorite {free} money-saving apps:

Shopular – I’ve been using this one for as long as I’ve had a smartphone.  It’s my one-stop-shop for retail deals and coupons.  You can search by mall or by store, and find virtually every coupon available for each specific retailer.  No paper, no separate store apps, no fuss.

eBay – Obviously, eBay’s been around FOREVER.  But, did you know how easy and user-friendly their app is?  Making extra cash off your cluttered house has never been easier (hello, kids clothes!).  You can do everything from your phone – even pay for and print postage.  You can also use the app to scan barcodes to find the best deal.  This is a great way to find the best deal on toys and movies for the kiddos!

Target Cartwheel – If you’re a Target shopper and you’re not using Cartwheel, you’re really just throwing you hard-earned money away.  I check the app before every shopping trip.  Watch for the 40%-50% off clothing deals – they usually expire after 24 hours.  I’ve walked away with brand-new goods at cheaper-than-clearance prices using Cartwheel.  Waiting in a long checkout line?  Use this as an opportunity to scan everything in your cart for some last minute savings.

Grocery Stores – Once again, if you’re not using the app for your favorite grocery store chain, you’re cheating yourself of some super stellar savings.  I used to be a couponer extraordinaire – until I started using these apps.  I very rarely use paper coupons anymore because just about every store lets me download them right to my account.  My 3 favorite metro-Detroit grocery chains {Kroger, Meijer, and Fresh Thyme} all have awesome apps with clickable coupons.
