Well hello there! I’m Shannon Murphy, the newest guest contributor to the Detroit Moms Blog. So, so happy to be sharing my crazy thoughts and sentiments with other local mommies.
I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and my family to you.
I wake up EARLY every weekday (think about setting your alarm clock for 3:30am!) to co-host the “Mojo in the Morning” show on Channel 955. It’s a job that I absolutely love; I get to interview celebrities, laugh and share what’s going on in my life with millions of listeners … and Mojo & Spike. Ha. It’s also a job that allows me to be a mommy for a good chunk of the day. I may wake up early, yes, but that also means I’m home and snuggling with my little lady by 1pm, which is amazing. I’m from Grosse Ile, went to college in Indy (Butler University), and post-college, worked on morning radio shows in Indy and Atlanta before moving back to the mitten.
My husband Andrew and I have been married since May 2012. (We got married at the incredible Ford Piquette Plant. Most unique wedding spot EVER.) He’s a handsome dude who’s constantly compared to Clark Kent, Orlando Bloom and NFL star, Mark Sanchez. I am beyond blessed to have this sweet man in my life; He’s just my everything.
This past April, we welcomed our darling Lucy Grace to the family. My heart can’t even stand her cuteness. She is just starting to move around, loves to laugh, is feisty when you don’t feed her fast enough, and is trying to figure out how to hold a conversation with Mom & Dad. Ha.
And our family is rounded out by our Toy Parti Poodle, Charlie. Look at that face! Puppy can get anything he wants. Seriously.
I’m beyond excited to share my “Mommy Journey” with you in the coming months!
xo,
Shannon
Hi Shannon! I’m currently on maternity leave with my new baby girl Ella and I’ve really missed my morning commute listening to you and the gang! So, I’m looking forward to reading your blog! π
Thanks, Mariel! Congrats on Ella!!!
Hey Shannon, congratulations on the blog. Your family is so beautiful, just had to say it. Look forward to reading your blog, plus listening to you on 955. Thank you for all your hard work! Keep up the great job with the little one. You are fantastic.
Awww … thanks, Linda!
I am very excited about this new adventure for you Shannon. I hope you take us on the journey of you getting your beautiful body back before you had your beautiful baby. I never really understood why women let themselves go after having a baby. I have had four children and I am still just as skinny and fit before I had any. Women need to remember that their kids are going to be embarrassed of their mothers when they look at old pictures. I cannot wait to see how you inspire mothers to not be so lazy after having a child. π
Hi Brianna! I have to be honest with you: Getting my body back to it’s “pre-baby state” is not really a priority. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been eating halfway-decent and working out a little bit, but my main focus right now is showering little Lucy with tons of attention and love … not going to the gym for two hours every day. P.S. I don’t think that kids will ever be embarrassed by their mom’s weight in old photos; I hope they were taught to understand that a woman’s body changes in various stages of her life, and every stage is beautiful. Thanks for reading my blog and taking the time to comment!!!
Wow… Shannon is trying to give ladies hope and here you are taking all of that away. Quit judging other women. You have Zero idea what women “my size” have been through or go through daily. My kids love me because I’m ME, because of who I am. I have not raised shallow children. My children are not embarrassed of me one bit. This is the kind of bullying that makes people want to commit suicide.
Hi Shannon- your baby is very cute! Talk to an expert about how to out her in her car seat,
Though. I see a few crucisl Mistakes in the above pictures. You are making some mistakes and need some direction on how to fix her in there so she is safe. See if you can find a CPST; I am one and know that any of us would be happy to walk you through an install and check and educate you on how to have her safe in there. Enjoy motherhood!
Hey Emily! No crucial mistakes; she is always strapped properly in her car seat. We took a baby safety class, and obviously know how to do it. When she’s in her stroller (her car seat clicks into her stroller), I loosen everything up a little bit and use strap covers so that her little face and neck aren’t scratched. Thanks for your concern!
