My name is Meredith and I am so excited to be here! I love living in the Metro Detroit area (Royal Oak) and all that it has to offer. I grew up in Birmingham and went to Michigan State University for college. After an eight year stint in Chicago (where I met me hubby and had my first baby, Charlie), we decided to make the move back to the mitten, where we thought it was a little more kid friendly (grandparents, homes with backyards and ….free parking)!!!
I’m so glad to be back in what I lovingly refer to as the ‘Woodward Corridor.’ Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, Berkley, Royal Oak and Ferndale is kind of my bubble. But, that’s not to say I don’t like venturing further out!
I never thought that I would be a SAHM, but it seems to be the right job for me right now. We are a VERY active threesome when daddy goes to work in the mornings. Preschool, baby music classes, gym, moms groups, errands and my beloved nap time keeps us occupied during the day. I like to keep a schedule and try to plan ahead for my week. But, that’s not to say sometimes that all goes out the window. Things come up (AKA- projectile vomiting) and plans change, but that’s all part of the fun, right?!?!
I am a total girly-girl, so finding myself living in a house full of boys has really altered my perception of what life really looks like! I was actually excited to take my three-year-old to Monster Jam at Ford Field in Detroit a few months ago. Instead of buying bows and baby dolls, I found myself obsessing before Christmas on which truck to get for him. And, to my surprise, I actually like it (shhhhh….don’t tell anyone)!!
In any spare time I have I love to DIY, cook and watch Bravo after the kids go to bed. My perfect Friday night includes: my husband, Matt, Netflix and a good bottle of red wine. We also have a semi-regular date night where we venture outside of the ‘bubble’ and like trying new restaurants in downtown Detroit. We are a sports enthusiast family, which includes watching anything Detroit/MSU related. Baseball, football and basketball are our top three!
Growing up, I was very shy, but seemed to grow confidence in college. I really found my voice after motherhood (just wait….it’s coming). I am very passionate about what I believe, but work really hard at listening and learning from others.
This is where DMB comes in…..I’m looking forward to sharing and growing as a mother and woman! Cheers!
