Rooftops + Patios You MUST Visit This Summer

It’s that time of the year! The weather in Michigan has been a minimum of high 70s, low 80s and that means summer is finally here! Not to mention, sunsets with Detroit’s skyline as the backdrop are a top-tier experience in the summer. Having a cocktail or mocktail with your girlfriends or partner is a must for these summer nights!

If I am with my group of friends, we are definitely looking for the “IG worthy” photo with a beautiful cocktail in hand. Some of my favorite spaces have stunning greenery that just elevates your experience. My go-to time to hang out is during brunch! When I am with my husband, I am looking for the lights and amazing craft cocktails and small bites to snack on. Having the twinkle of stars light up the sky on a rooftop at night is the most romantic!

Here are my go-to spots for rooftops and patios where you can enjoy the summer breeze in the vibrancy of Metro Detroit.

Rooftops and Patios In + Around Detroit

Highlands | Detroit

While it isn’t a rooftop, the Highlands Restaurant has an amazing view! Located inside of the Renaissance Center, it is a great place for date night. The restaurant sits on the 71st floor, offering one of the best views in the heart of the city. The high bar offers an extensive cocktail list that is sure to get your night off to a great start.

IO Rooftop Lounge | Detroit (Corktown)

Right across from where the original Tiger’s Stadium was is the new Godfrey Hotel. It is in the perfect location for everything near Downtown Detroit. Inside of the hotel is a new rooftop lounge called IO for Indoor/Outdoor. The retractable roof opens up to the perfect summer breeze. On Mondays, they have a pop-up event that is great to attend with your girlfriends for a night out on the town.

Kamper’s Rooftop Lounge | Detroit

Newly opened, Kamper’s has become the largest rooftop in Detroit. It is located in The Book Towers and offers an extensive list of beverages for everyone. The menu also features Spanish tapas for you to snack on as you enjoy the amazing view of the city. You can spot Ford Field from the rooftop patio! Reservations are recommended to experience this exclusive lounge.

Lumen Detroit | Detroit

Lumen has the perfect rooftop to take in all of Downtown Detroit. The 360-degree view of the city is housed in Beacon Park. Right outside of the amazing rooftop are an array of activities for you to enjoy during the summer months. In the summer, Beacon Park has outdoor concerts, markets that highlight local vendors, and tons of family-friendly events that should be added to your to-do list for the summer!

The Monarch Club | Detroit

The Monarch Club is the perfect place to sit during any weather! It is in the heart of Downtown Detroit and located inside the Metropolitan Building and a sight to see during the sunset. The Monarch Club is a great place to dress up and enjoy a night out on the town!

Watermark Bar + Grille | St. Clair Shores

Concluding the list of must-see views in the summer is a place just outside of Downtown Detroit. Located in what locals know as the Nautical Mile of St. Clair Shores is Watermark Bar + Grille. This waterfront restaurant allows you to drive up in a car–or a boat. Their menu features amazing food and drinks for families to share!

Summer is a feeling. Whether you feel like having some fun listening to a DJ at the IO, or you are looking for a romantic evening with your loved one at the Highlands, Detroit is where you will get your summer feels! These rooftops and patios are just a few of my favorites for any summer night!

CarminIssa
Hello! I'm Carmin! Born and raised in Detroit, I currently reside right in the outskirts of Detroit. I'm a momma of two NICU warriors, and bonus mom to two beautiful girls. I've worked in Early Childhood for 14 years and I am now working to build my own business! In my spare time (as if that's a thing) I decompress by adult coloring, listening to music, and playing my all-time favorite computer game (don't judge me). I am so happy to share my perspective and voice to mama's just like me, and mama's different from me! We all have a voice, and it's important that we are heard.
