8 Detroit-Centric Sources to Follow {In Addition to DMB}

Detroit is changing. You know it. I know it. The New York Times knows it. Even our parents are starting to notice.

With so much happening in The D, it can be hard to stay knowledgeable. (And that whole “keeping little humans alive” thing certainly doesn’t help). We at Detroit Moms Blog do our best to keep you up to date, but we want to shout out more of our favorite Detroit sources.

Follow along on your social media platforms of choice I like a well-balanced cocktail of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook or maybe you prefer to visit a good, old-fashioned website every morning.

Whether you’re looking to keep up with local news, find the next trendy brunch spot, or attend fun events with your family, here are eight sources to know:

Crain’s Detroit Business – for local news and economy

Curbed Detroit – for the booming housing market in the city and Metro area

Daily Detroit – for news, events, and podcasts for your commute

Deadline Detroit – for a mix of news, sports, and events

Eater Detroit – for new additions and old favorites in Detroit’s restaurant scene

Historic Detroit – for glimpses into the city’s rich history

The HUB Detroit – for a focus on Detroit neighborhoods

Visit Detroit – for entertainment, attractions, and events

Tell us YOUR favorite ways to keep up with Detroit!

Kelsie Rodriguez
I’m a stay-a-home mom to a 3-year-old boy, Theodore, and his baby brother, James, and a wife to my husband of 5 years, Gabe. I grew up in a small town in Michigan, and though I sometimes miss the country, I love living in Metro Detroit! I enjoy reading, playing piano, traveling, trying new restaurants, craft beer, and Michigan sports (Go Blue!). I graduated with a Bachelor's in Psychology and Sociology from U of M in 2009, and received my Master of Social Work degree from Boston University in 2013. Though I'm not currently working, I've found that my degrees turned out to be great training for parenthood!
