Book of the Month: The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner
Synopsis
On a cold night in London in the 1700s, Nella waits for her latest customer in a dark alley. She sells poisons in secret to women who wish to be free from the men in their lives who are wronging them. When the customer turns out to be a twelve-year-old girl, a series of events take place that threaten to expose the many women who have purchased poisons from Nella.
In present-day, Caroline spends her day wallowing in pity over her husband’s infidelity. After finding an old apothecary vial, she realizes she’s found a link to the unsolved “apothecary murders” that swept through London two centuries ago.
