It’s SUMMERTIME and the weather is finally getting onboard! School’s out and it’s time to find things to occupy those little minds. Detroit River Days
Location :: Along the Detroit Riverfront in West Riverfront Park
Time :: 11:00 a.m. – 10 p.m. all 3 days
Cost :: Admission to River Days is $5 to support the non-profit Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and all paid admission attendees receive a wristband and $3 in food coupons to use at event food trucks. River Days is FREE to enter on Friday between 11am-5pm.
River Days is a celebration of Detroit’s Riverwalk with activities on land and water. Experience all the Riverwalk has to offer, from the jet-ski demos to live music, sand sculptures, delicious eats and much more!
Summer Solstice Celebration
Location :: Heritage Park, 24915 Farmington Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48336
Time :: 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Cost :: A fee of $5 per person includes a spot on the hayride.
Take a hayride through the park, enjoy roasting marshmallows around a campfire, explore the Nature Center, create a fairy door and art projects, and find out what makes the day special with games and outdoor activities.
Bay-Rama Fishfly Festival

Arts and Acts Festival

This year’s festival will feature more than 130 local and national artists and vendors over the weekend of arts, crafts, theatre, literature, music, food and more. Tons O’ Trucks & Wheeled Wonders

This is a great opportunity for the entire family to get up close and personal with almost any type of vehicle you can imagine. Sensory-Friendly Saturday is an event designed for guests on the autism spectrum and with other sensory processing disorders. For this event, a variety of accommodations, activities and more have been put into place to create an inclusive, welcoming and safe space for our guests. Prior to this event, staff members of The Henry Ford participated in Michigan Autism Safety Training (MAST) provided by the Autism Alliance of Michigan to better understand the characteristics of autism and how to recognize and communicate with someone with autism.
Drop-in Owl Pellet Dissecting Day

Stop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to learn about owls, owl pellets, and get your very own owl pellet dissection kit. Our staff will help you work through the pellet to discover what the owl had for lunch, and we will attempt to put the skeleton of the animal back together.
Dairy Day – Farm Center

Science Forum Demo – Cow Eye Dissection

Join us in the Science Forum for 15-20 minute engaging science demonstrations that will help you see the world around you in a whole new way. Demonstrations are appropriate for visitors ages 5 and above.
Have you ever wondered what makes our eyes work or how we see? We’ll dissect a cow’s eye to take a closer look at the organ that helps us see the world. How is it similar to and different from our eyes, and those of other animals? Learn the parts of the eye and how they work together to illuminate our sight.
