Introducing Monique Jackson…a Detroit Mom

Who I Am

My name is Monique Jackson; well, it’s really Monique Jackson-Williams, but we won’t talk about why I still legally have my ex-husband’s last name just yet. Just know I’m happily single and open to new love. I’m originally from Detroit although I have lived in other states such as Ohio and Utah. I hold a cosmetology license in multiple states, a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, and a Master’s degree in business administration. Most of my days consist of reloading money to my Starbucks app, stalking Facebook Marketplace, and writing out to-do lists of tasks. I’d love to accomplish everything I list in a specified timeframe. Yeah…that hardly ever happens. I’m a lover of ultimate randomness that will make me feel whole, you know, like ordering cute random customized trinkets and clothes from Etsy. I love to shop for trending handbags and high-end makeup at Saks and Nordstrom on my extended lunch breaks. My heart and soul truly lies in the endless aisles of storage bins, home décor, and office trinkets at Home Goods.

My Mommy Story

My motherhood journey is unique. The shaping of my journey derives from children that are not biologically mine. Nonetheless, I love them all with my whole heart. I’ve been a mother-figure to my two younger sisters for as long as they have crawled this earth. After enduring two failed rounds of IVF and a stillborn baby boy, I’m healing and flowing through life with an open mind and gracious heart. Currently, I’m pursuing adoption of a sweet baby girl. Adoption has been an emotional roller coaster, and I’ll be prepared to share more once the ink on paper has dried. One day I hope to have at least three tiny humans roaming throughout my home calling me “Queen Mama.”

How I Make Coins

As a hairstylist and salon owner of Clutch and Curl Sophisticate Hair Care, I’m passionate about empowering the lives of others through genuine engagement. When clients sit in my chair, they receive a dollop of shampoo, a handful of “hey girl heys,” a dose or two of self-affirmation, and a sprinkle of Jesus. I also coach aspiring and active entrepreneurs in scaling their service-based beauty businesses. For a daily glimpse into my life, follow me on Instagram: MoniqueTheStylist.
