Clarkston Union Bar & Kitchen | 54 S Main St, Clarkston

CLAIM TO FAME: Handmade Mac and Cheese. Featuring a variety of American cuisine and comfort food including lobster mac and cheese, American burgers, a variety of sausages, and portobello gratin mushroom potatoes. They even offer a take-and-bake option of their legendary mac and cheese.

Krazy Jim’s Blimpyburger | 304 S Ashley St, Ann Arbor

CLAIM TO FAME: Classic old-fashioned char-broiled hamburgers. Featuring build-your-own burgers and sliders, with a multitude of options including stacking five or more burgers for the extra messy, classic burger we all know and love. Burger is ground fresh in house daily, and an array of hand-battered onion rings and veggies are on the menu.

Polish Village Cafe | 2990 Yemans Ave, Hamtramck

CLAIM TO FAME: Hungarian-style pancakes or Tangy Dill Pickle Soup. Featuring European classics such as a variety of pierogies, assorted kielbasa, mushroom crepes, City Chicken, schnitzel, and much more. You’ll even find a Taco Tuesday deal here with pierogi tacos! 

The Fly Trap | 22950 Woodward Ave, Ferndale

CLAIM TO FAME: Vietnamese Pho Bowl. Featuring classic American diner fare such as biscuits and gravy, chilled borscht with horseradish cream, and in-house hot sauces and jams. Offering a variety of unique foods from egg dishes to salads, sandwiches, and sides. All items can be made vegetarian or vegan (except the mac).

Traffic Jam and Snug | 511 W Canfield St, Detroit

CLAIM TO FAME: Pork Loin Kamatsu Salad with Hot-Sauce Jelly Beans. Featuring scratch-made items such as beef-braised paninis, Carolina crab cakes, Irish egg rolls, and baked brie. Check out the in-house bakery, house-made cheeses, and enjoy one of their house-brewed beers . . . they were Michigan’s first brew pub!

Union Woodshop | 18 S Main St, Clarkston

CLAIM TO FAME: “The Porker.” Featuring a smoked BBQ menu featuring lots of pork, poultry, and beef. Woodfired pizza is cooked in an 800-degree oven over cherry and applewood. They also offer regional BBQ sauce flavors to go with their meaty menu. Be sure to try the brisket, house-crafted bacon, or cedar plank salmon.
