Book of the Month: Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam
Synopsis
Amanda and Clay head out of New York City with their kids to a quiet corner of Long Island. They’re hoping for some quality family time, reconnection in their marriage, and a pause from their hectic day-to-day lives. Their vacation is off to a great start until late one night an elderly Black couple knocks on the front door of their vacation rental. They say the house is theirs, and a blackout in the city has forced them to drive out to their vacation home while things settle down. But without TV or Internet, both families are left in the dark, and no one knows who is telling the truth.
