It’s summertime here in Michigan, and there is no shortage of fun activities to enjoy! Oftentimes though, our furry friends are left behind as families head out in the sunshine. Well guess what? As we head into this hottest stretch of summer, nicknamed after our canine cohorts, many Detroit-area establishments are encouraging you to bring your dogs along!
From dog parks and outdoor green spaces, to retail and even restaurants, our community is recognizing that dogs are integral to daily life and welcoming them with open arms. That said, be sure to follow these tips if you choose to bring your dog along:
- First, don’t assume that Fido is allowed – check beforehand. Most places will post on social media or their website if they are pet-friendly, but, if in doubt, call! If you are headed to a pet-friendly restaurant in particular, know that you will need to sit in the outdoor patio area.
- Also, be prepared! Bring along a “go bag” with water, treats, waste bags, and anything else your pet may need. And always, keep your dog on a leash.
