We’re moms that understand the importance of summer camp to many families in + around Detroit. Detroit Mom’s goal is to make your life a little easier by sharing a list of summer camps that you may want to learn a little more about. Cranbrook Schools Summer Camps
SpringHill
SpringHill creates life-impacting camp experiences that enable young people to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ through His message of grace, hope, and love. Everything we do focuses on teaching these messages to kids through faith and fun!

Friendship Circle Summer Camp
Friendship Circle, a nonprofit that supports individuals with special needs, is offering eight weeks of summer camp, including two weeks of overnight camp. The nonprofit’s staff will ensure safety of all campers and provide one adult for every four campers in addition to many teen volunteers who provide friendship and support to campers. All staff members are handpicked for their experience and dedicated to working with individuals with special needs. Counselors are specially trained on each camper to ensure participants have the safest and most exciting summer possible.
Day Camp at Friendship Circle (June 21–July 9) Campers will receive a memorable and active summer experience while developing friendships with teen volunteers and their peers. Where: Friendship Circle – 6892 West Maple Road, West Bloomfield, MI. Activities: Arts and crafts, sports, music, dancing, magic shows, and more. Options: 3 weeks (June 21-25, June 28-July 1 and/or July 5-9); ages 5+
Rubin Family Day Camp at North Star Reach (July 12-30) A campground oasis that will give your camper a unique experience. Together, campers will build friendships, learn critical social skills, and engage in summer fun. Where: (Daily travel from Friendship Circle – 6892 West Maple Road, West Bloomfield, MI) to North Star Reach – 200 University Camp Dr, Pinckney, MI. Activities: Boating, swimming, arts and crafts, nature, field games, and more. Options: 1-3 weeks (July 12-16, July 19-23 and/or July 26-30); ages 5+
Rubin Family Overnight Camp at North Star Reach (August 2-13) Located at a beautiful environment, campers will experience the great outdoors while receiving a safe and unforgettable overnight camp experience. Where: North Star Reach – 200 University Camp Dr, Pinckney, MI. Activities: Swimming, canoeing, campfires, crafts, nature, and more. Options: 1-2 weeks (August 2-6 and/or August 9-13); ages 6+
Camp Carvela
At Camp Carvela we empower young people through experiential learning. Our programming is camper-led and designed to foster an imaginative environment for kids to play and explore. Our unique programming model emphasizes inclusion, creativity, exploration, and community building.
JCC Day Camps of Metro Detroit
Located on 250 wooded acres, on the campus of the Metro Detroit JCC, JCC Day Camps provides summer day camps for kids and teens (5-17) and special needs programming (5-28). Free chaperoned transportation is included from 40 different Metro Detroit locations. With trained and dedicated staff, JCC Day Camps provides the community with a fun, educational, and inclusive camp experience that offers safe opportunities for personal growth through the lens of Jewish values. The camp experience is created through an enriching natural environment for campers and staff to foster and discover personal, social, and physical growth whilst instilling and promoting Jewish values.
Farmington Hills Unplugged Summer Camps
A summer filled with friends, adventure, and fun. Farmington Hills Unplugged Summer Camps have something for everyone ages 3 to 17–art, theatre, music, sports, archery, skateboarding, nature, lifeguarding, safety town, field trips, and STEM. Or for the classic summer experience, give our General Day Camps a try. Farmington Hills Special Services hosts over 3,000 kids each year in our licensed day camps. Berkley Parks & Recreation Summer Day Camp 2022
Berkley Parks and Recreation offers fun summer day camps for kids in grades K through 9th grade. Summer day camps at Berkley Parks and Rec offer swimming at outdoor local pools, beaches and waterparks, weekly age-appropriate field trips, crafts, sports, movies, ice cream, games, Berkley’s own inflatable bouncer, weekly themes, and so much more! Berkley Parks and Recreation summer day camps run from June 20 through August 18.
Berkley Parks and Rec Summer Camps are divided into 4 age groups.
- Berkley Summer Camps 2022 Kids Kamp – Kids Kindergarten – 1st grade
- Berkley Summer Camps 2022 Junior Kamp – Kids 2nd grade – 3rd grade
- Berkley Summer Camps 2022 Senior Kamp – Kids 4th grade – 5th grade
- Berkley Summer Camps 2022 Teen Kamp – Kids 6th grade and Up
Camp hours are from 8:45-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Before-care starting at 7:30 a.m. and after-care ending at 6:00 p.m. are available for an additional cost of $25 per week for mornings and $20 per week for evenings. Nine weeks of camp are held at Anderson Middle School and includes a camp T-shirt (required for field trips). Berkley Parks and Recreation summer camps cost $180 per week for residents, $200 per week for non-resident. You can register for ALL nine weeks of Berkley Summer Day Camp 2022 for $1475 per resident ($1375 if you early bird register before June 1) or $1650 for non-resident ($1550 early bird).

Classroom Antics is an educational enrichment provider offering fun, educational STEAM-focused programs for kids 7-13 years old. Weeklong summer camps are offered in a variety of STEAM activities, including video game design, robotics, animation, video production, and coding.

Troy Recreation Department
Troy Recreation Department offers more than 45 camps for ages 3–18! We have camps for all interests: art, science, sports, theater, zombies, and more! Try our always popular Safety Town, where Kindergarteners and 1st graders learn how to stay safe and stay smart. Rainbow Preschool offers weekly camps for ages 3–5, with a 10% discount if you register for all seven camps! Most camps are offered Monday through Friday, with the option of before or after care for our day camps. Registration is available for Troy residents and non-residents.
