With Halloween only a couple of weeks away, it’s time to get SPOOKY. One of our family’s new favorite things to do is BOO! our friends and family. This past weekend we decided to spread the love and surprise a few of our friends with a basket full of goodies. We know this year is hard and I’m all for spreading cheer wherever I can. I want my kids to grow up and see the power of giving to others. I think it’s safe to say they enjoyed giving as much as our friends enjoyed receiving.
BOOing your friends can be done in three simple steps.
Shop…
Keep the items in your bucket, basket, or bag super simple and fun. When it comes to shopping for stuff, Target is my personal favorite. You can also head to the Dollar Store, CVS, Walgreens, or Rite Aid. Your local grocery store should have some goodies, too! Of course, I headed straight to the Dollar Spot at Target, but sadly, it was pretty picked over.
We found a cute bucket for $1 and it was the perfect size, and then we grabbed some items near the candy section. The $1 candies are the best and kids love them. Think spooky gummies and gumballs, activities for the kids, treats for mom and dad, or whatever hits your spooky bone! Here are some of our faves:
- Glow bracelets
- Play dough
- Board books
- Goldfish
- Festive necklaces + bracelets
- Stickers
- Candy
- Trail Mix
- Chalk
- Slime (not my fave but hey, kids love it)
- Mini bags of treats (chips, popcorn, cheese puffs, fruit snacks)
- Chalk
- Halloween bandaids
Print…
Now, the easy part! Print off the “You’ve Been BOOed” card with instructions and put it in your basket along with all of your goodies. We’ve got TWO options for you:
OR…
Deliver!
Get your kids excited and secretly place the bucket on your lucky recipient’s doorstep. We let our kids put it on the porch and ring the doorbell. The kids thought it was the best thing ever and I was hands down the coolest mom for approximately five minutes. Want to spice it up? Add a balloon!
If you’re someone who loves giving, then this is perfect! Get your entire family in on the fun and see how quickly others join in. Did we mention you could give an adult BOO bucket?! Forget the kids and give one to your BFF. I bet you can guess what you’d add into that bucket. I’ll take some wine, macaroons from Le Detroit, a good book, and maybe a tub of Traverse City Cherry Fudge from Hudsonville Ice Cream. Just in case anyone out there feels like they want to BOO me… I’m 100% here for it!
Sounds easy enough, right?!
