Spring is in the air and it is time to get back outside! From parks, to nature centers, to Easter events, our team at Detroit Mom is here to help you shake off those winter blues and fill up your spring calendars with the best metro Detroit spring activities. So let’s get outside and watch spring come into full bloom!

Metro Detroit Spring Activities from A to Z:

A: A Hoppin’ Good Time | Armada

Hop on down to spend a day at Blake’s for a fun-filled spring day. Take a photo with the Easter Bunny, partake in an Easter egg hunt, and do some spring crafts. Event takes place Saturday, April 1st.

Bonus: Try your hand at archery at the Outdoor Adventure Center.

B: Boater Safety Course | Detroit

Before we head into summer, be sure all the boaters in your family take the boater safety course which will be offered for free at the Outdoor Adventure Center. Class takes place Saturday, April 22nd.

Bonus: Butterflies in Bloom at Dow Gardens in Midland allows you to get up close and personal with hundreds of butterflies.

C: Chow Time on the Farm | Milford

Spend the afternoon on the farm and help the staff feed the animals. Event takes place Friday, May 12th.

Bonus: Bring your own kayak or canoe and take part in a canal paddle tour at Lake Erie Metro Park. Tours take place on various dates beginning at the end of May!

D: Day Out with Thomas | Dearborn

Spend the day with Thomas at Greenfield Village. Take a ride on Thomas himself, listen to story telling, and enjoy live music. Plan ahead–taking place in May!

Bonus: Meet the farm animals in the heart of Detroit at Down on the Farm at Outdoor Adventure Center on Sunday, April 23rd.

E: EGGstravaganza | Lake Orion

It’s raining eggs! Let the kids collect eggs to exchange for prizes in Canterbury Village, taking place throughout the month of April.

Bonus:  Solve puzzles and riddles and collect prize-filled eggs at the Easter Egg Hunt at Detroit’s Historic Fort Wayne on Saturday, April 8th.

F: Flower Day at Eastern Market | Detroit

Take part in this Eastern Market tradition and pick out some beautiful flowers for your spring garden. Be sure to stop by on Sunday, May 21st!

G: Greenfield Village Opening Day | Dearborn

Step back in time and explore the village on their opening day on April 15th.

Bonus: Hear tales of the past and take part in the Ghosts of Plymouth Walk on Saturday, April 22nd.

H: Hayride Adventures at Kensington Metropark | Milford

Hayrides are not just for fall! Help staff get the hoses ready, and learn all about how to care for the animals. Then, enjoy the hayride! Event takes place on Saturday, May 13th.

I: International Astronomy Day | Metro Detroit

Meet with a NASA Ambassador who will help you explore the night sky. Also, be sure to visit many of our metro Detroit planetariums! Event takes place on Saturday, April 29th.

J: Jog in the Martian Marathon | Detroit

The whole family can partake in the fun. With events from kids’ marathons to a full marathon, there is an event for everyone in the family. Marathon takes place on Saturday, April 15th.

K: Kensington Art Fair | Milford

With over 100 artists and many food trucks, the Kensington Art Fair will be a great way to spend Memorial Day Weekend at the end of May!

Bonus: Let those elementary-aged kids get outside with the Kensington Kids Club!

L: Little Cub and Explorers Club | Detroit

Enjoy a story time, craft, and learn about different science topics on Saturday, April 29th.

M: Mini-Workshops at Troy Historical Village | Troy

Learn old time skills at the Troy Historical Village such as candle making and tin punch lantern making.

Bonus: Watch the Lyrid meteor shower during Meteors in the Metropark on Friday, April 21st.

N: Nature Discovery Hikes | Shelby Township

Head over to Stony Creek Metropark, where they offer hikes that are focused on different unique habitats.

O: Opening Day for the Detroit Tigers | Detroit

There is no better way to kick off spring than celebrating downtown for the Detroit Tigers’ Opening Day on Thursday, April 6th!

P: Pond Dipping at Indian Springs Metropark | White Lake

Check what lies beneath the pond surface by dipping nets into the water and watching what comes out. Your kids will have a blast! Event takes place on Sunday, April 23rd.

Bonus: Preschool Nature Explorers lets the littlest learners get up close and personal with nature.

Q: Quarton Lake | Birmingham

Watch spring bloom at Quarton Lake while you stroll along the boardwalk and pathways, and enjoy the native plants.

R: Riley Archery Range | Farmington Hills

Test out your archery skills during open shooting times, and take part in classes, camps, and birthday parties!

S: Show Me Detroit Tours | Detroit
