Six Mom Essentials to Appear Put-Together

I’m a mess. I don’t have it together…but sometimes, I like to appear put-together, at least a little bit. Going to the grocery store or dropping my kids off at daycare, I’m a mess: leggings, no shower, hair in a messy bun, hardly any makeup. Then, there are days that I go to work, or a family function, or out to lunch and I don’t want to look like I have nothing together. For those moments, I have a few secrets that help me present and act as if I have my life under control, when I most definitely do not.

Voloom

If you’re like me and have little body to your hair, I’m sure you’ve tried every mousse, gel, and volume spray they make. Nothing helps as much as this volume iron. Instead of another product on your hair, this is similar to the 90s-style crimper, yet this one boosts your hair’s volume. It’s pricey, but worth every penny to me. Plus, it’s quick and super easy to use. You just flip up your top layer and crimp all the bottom layers for unbeatable volume.

Leg Makeup

Back in my twenties, my tan, skinny legs were something I took for granted. Now, after two kids, gaining weight, and no time to lay in the sun, my legs are not my strong suit. However, with this miracle leg makeup, I have the confidence of my twenty-year-old self to wear shorts and dresses in public. It’s very similar to the liquid makeup we wear on our face. I just rub it in like lotion and then take a face brush to even it out, especially on my knees and ankles. This isn’t the same as self tanner, as it washes right off. I make sure it’s dry before sitting so it doesn’t rub off. I also mist setting spray on top just to help keep it in place. Rinsing it off before bed is a must. Your legs will look 10 years younger if you ask me!

Eyelash Lengthening

I stopped this eyelash lengthener when I got pregnant since I get worried about everything, but it is amazing. While using it, I completely noticed a difference and so did others. People would comment on how long my lashes were all the time. My husband and kids naturally have very long and thick eye lashes but for those of us that don’t, and want long eyelashes with a natural look, this is the product!

Color Street Nail Polish

I absolutely love having my nails done. However, I don’t always have the time to go to the salon. The next best thing for moms is Color Street nail strips. They are made out of 100% nail polish but the best part: there is zero drying time. These don’t last as long as Shellac for me, but they are so easy to put on. With little ones running around, I cannot wait for polish to dry. You can put them on right before bed, in the car while your husband drives to Easter dinner, or even on your lunch break at work. They are quick and come in a wide variety of colors and designs. Oh, and they are very inexpensive too!

Apt. 9 Tummy Control Pants

I spent the first 30 years of my life very skinny- size two and below. Now, in my mid-thirties with two kids, I have some problem areas…one being my tummy. I blame my beautiful kids 100% but, until I lose it all, I at least have these pants to help hold it in. I have these in jeans, dress pants, skirts, shorts, leggings, you name it. They come in short, regular, and long and just give that extra support for your mamma pooch.

Goal Planner

GoGirl Planner: Weekly Planner, Goals Journal & Agenda to Improve Time Management, Productivity & Live Happier

Now, this one doesn’t help my appearance per say, but it helps me in many ways. I have used a bullet journal for years with focus on being appreciative, improving myself, and improving my mental health. This year, I have upgraded to not only bullet journal, but to focus on my goals. My goals are weekly, monthly, and yearly; and consist of things like losing weight, teaching my kids to be more appreciative, or keeping a cleaner house. These are reminders I need to see daily. I’ve incorporated my daily affirmations, habit tracker, and three items I’m grateful for along with my goals. It’s something I do every night before going to bed to help me evaluate my day, appreciate all that I have, and decide what I would like to focus on tomorrow.

These are just some of the products I have found that help me in my daily, chaotic life to appear put-together. I know there are a million other products that help you keep your life together when you sometimes feel like you’re losing your mind.

What works for you? What helps you appear together when you’re running around this crazy life of motherhood?
