Top Five Workout Apps for Moms

I’ve never really liked the gym. It used to make me super self-conscious and sometimes I never knew if people were really wiping down the equipment. When I became a mom, I completely stopped going to the gym. Part of it was not being ready and the other part was probably my budget. I started turning to at home workout apps. I could still get a workout, but from the comfort of my own home, when the baby was sleeping or even when she was awake.

I’ve tested various apps and these are my top five workout apps. Like many of you, I am currently working from home while also trying to manage a household. Even as things open back up, these might still be my go-to workout apps for moms.

1. 7 Minute Workout: Fitness App by Fast Builder Limited

What we like: This is one of my favorite workout apps for moms! Most of these workouts are only seven minutes long and require no equipment. There is a lot of research that has been done about how seven-minute workouts can really boost your energy. If these are done in sequence three times, you’ll get a killer workout in less than 30 minutes.

Cost: Free to download and use. They do have a seven-day free trial and then it’s only $2.99/month if you need more workouts. The classic, plus a few others, are good enough for this busy mom!

2. Down Dog by Yoga Buddhi Co.

What we like: This workout app is highly rated and is great for various levels of yoga practice from beginner to pro. They also have other apps if you are more into HIIT or Barre. As a workout app for moms, this is a great one to bring yourself down before bed.

Cost: Varies. There are various membership levels, but you can download and use it for free. The free version has enough options to still give you a good workout, but if you need more, there are different levels. They are also offering the full app free for healthcare workers through July.

3. Aaptiv by AAPTIV INC.

What we like: The workouts are trainer-led with new classes added all the time. They have workouts that range from seven minutes to a full training program. There are HIIT programs available and marathon training.

Cost: Free seven-day trial and then $14.99/month.

4. Noom by Noom, Inc.

What we like: This is another one of my favorite workout apps for moms! It is all about your mindset. You get a personalized program that includes nutrition and workouts. This is a great app if you want motivation without stepping into a gym.

Cost: Free to try and download. It does cost extra to get more of the personalized workouts, but they have varying subscription levels from as low as $4.99/month.

5. Openfit by OpenFit, LLC.

What we like: Live streaming classes so you can see the teacher! There are over 250 classes ranging from running and weights to tabata and barre. This also includes a nutrition plan.

Cost: Free to download and then $14.99/month, $39.99/quarter, or $99/year.

There are also many local options for classes. Many of your favorite gyms have been offering online classes, such as Detroit Yoga Lab. They offer varying levels of practice right now and are live streaming. They offer free and paid classes.

Whatever you are comfortable with, there is an app or live streaming class out there for you. The best part is that most of them have a free trial, so try a few out, see what you like, and stay healthy!
