College Savings Strategy Session with Michigan Education Trust

JOIN US FOR A VIRTUAL PANEL ON COLLEGE SAVINGS STRATEGIES

Have you been thinking, and maybe worrying, about your finances during these weeks of staying at home? Do you have questions about saving for college? Has a college savings account been on your to-do list? Then you won’t want to miss this virtual event!

Michigan Education Trust is hosting a virtual panel of college savings experts and successful savers who can help you get, or stay, on track. They will share real-life experiences of how Michigan Education Trust, the state’s 529 prepaid plan, helped them reach their college savings goals. And the panel will answer YOUR questions. Come with all of your questions and watch the session live this Thursday, May 28 at 10 a.m. on MET’s Facebook page. You don’t need to have a Facebook account to participate.

PANELISTS

Robin Lott, MET Executive Director

Heidi O’Dea, Financial Advisor

Jerod Clover, MET graduate (2020 University of Michigan Grad)

Ingrid Clover, MET parent

Cynthia and Verle Gilbert, Jr, MET purchasers (grandparents)

I realize how much the thought of saving for college can create feelings of uncertainty, overwhelm, and fear of debt. It’s safe to say that many of us have been there. I know I was. My daughter was 16 and I didn’t have a college savings plan and it wasn’t even something I had considered. Getting started was a scary idea, but Michigan Education Trust took those fears away. Their help left me feeling empowered in my decisions when it came to saving for college. You can feel this way, too! You can start a plan with as little as $125.

By taking 30 minutes out of your day on May 28, you’ll be able to ask all of the questions you’ve been wanting to. I encourage you to ASK THEM ALL. It’s never too late to set up a college savings plan and the best part is, anyone can do it. In such uncertain times, we need to start thinking ahead to the future and what that will look like for our children. If you’re anything like me, knowing that there’s at least one thing I can control makes me feel a whole lot better. And for all of the grandparents out there, this is the perfect gift to give.

Here’s the exciting part, if you sign up between May 28 and May 29, you’ll receive a $100 match simply by using the code 529DAY2020. I encourage you to take advantage of this and start saving. Share with grandparents who are looking for more meaningful ways to gift give. Listen to the Facebook Live with MET on Thursday and walk away feeling informed about college savings plans. From one mom to another, trust me, it’s never too late to start.

See you on Thursday, friends. I’ll be right there with you!
